New Website

There's a reason why I haven't been to this blog in a while! Mostly because I'm working, but it's also 'cause I've got a new website! Actually, it's my very first website. Hope you like it!

Vision Revisioned Banner

FINALLY!
I made this 'cause it's been stuck in my head for two years. Now imagine if Steven Spielberg got involved. How awesome would that be? God willing one day. . .
P.S.: I just learned how to do the lens flare on Photoshop today. I feel so proud of myself right now.

Project Rooftop Redesigns: Aquaman & Static Shock

Hey y'all! Been a while, huh? Sorry, I've quite busy with work, competitions and all that jazz, but I did find time to enter some contests from Project Rooftop.

Entry #1: Aquaman
Last month, comic book artists were asked to redesign the king of the sea by costume or race. I chose to make Aquaman as a Nigerian god named Olokun 'cause I doubt there are people out there who know very much about Nigerian myth. I don't know why I put gills on his pecks, but whatever.

Entry #2: Static Shock
As you may have already heard, the comic book creator known as Dwayne McDuffie passed away about a week ago. So, in honor of the man, artists were called upon to redesign the costume of his greatest creation known as "Static Shock". Rest in peace, Mr. McDuffie.

The entries should be up on Project Rooftop soon (http://www.tencentticker.com/projectrooftop/). So, check 'em out when you have the chance.

My Envisioned Poster process

Happy New Year, people! Hope you're having a good one so far. I recently enter a contest for Superhero Cocoa (http://superherococo.blogspot.com/2010/12/superhero-theater-posters.html) and I think I might have a shot. Here the process I went through.

Step One: The goal was to make a Superhero movie poster as if it were made prior to the 60's. It can be any hero from DC or Marvel, as long as it's made to look plausible before the 60's. Here are a few posters I took a look at for inspiration. I ended up choosing the internationalposter of "Forbidden Planet" 'cause of how haunting, mysterious and inspiring it looked.

Step Two: What's a poster without the main character? I chose The Vision, created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby, for three reasons. 1: I felt as though it would be perfect for this kind of contest 'cause it's sci-fi (the most popular movie genre during the 20th century) and it involves a long forgotten superhero. 2. I enjoy science fiction 'cause it can go ANYwhere. 3. I was already making drawings of this character. Just a blatant hope of revamping his story my own way. Here is the original design and a few of my redesigns.

Step Three: Now comes the hard part. . . making the poster. Here are a few sketches of the general idea, the idea I ended up sticking with and finally, a painting of the pencilled project, which took three days to complete!

Step Four: I had to straighten it out and erase all the pencil marks that I could 'cause of the way it was scanned. Also did some editing on Photoshop.

Step Five: Putting the words in.Ignore the one on the bottom. That's for something else.

Step Six: Putting it all together for your viewing pleasure.

Step Seven: Added a few details to make the poster look aged. And there you go! My poster is ready for the contest! Wish me luck!!!

An Adventurous Dream

This is a dream project that was literally based on a dream I had. Five years ago, I dreamt of an animated adventure that looked as if it was inspired by an "Indiana Jones" film. The weird thing was that I could hear the soundtrack to "Back to the Future" in the background. As soon as I woke up, I drew a quick sketch of what I saw. I didn't have a real title, so I just put "Adventure". Also, I added Steven Spielberg's name there because I'd like to work with him one day.

Walking Test

Been a while, but I've been busy working in Nigeria, my home country. My uncle owns a bank that needs to get their name out there, so he called to me. This is what I came up with for the moment. I can pat myself in the back 'cause now, I can ANIMATE (somewhat)!

"NU.K." Project 3

Here are the three pages I made. Enjoy!

"NU.K." Project 2

Here's the final Design for the comic.

"NU.K." Project

This started out as my High School final project. I wanted to make a comic strip about six seniors looking back at their high school experience, but I didn't want it to be in the United States. I chose the United Kingdom because I am TIRED of watching high school movies based in the U.S. I mean, what about THE REST OF THE WORLD!?? America's not the only place to go to high school. Don't worry. . .The U.K.'s only the beginning. Take a look at how long it took me to make the final piece.
